An exciting insight into the moorland cats.
WINDCLAN as seen by ROCK
There is a great difference between being weak and being vulnerable to make alliances to protect your borders. WindClan has spent many moons learning how to survive in the open, where speed and a sense of danger count for more than stealth and stalking skills. And they are nearer to StarClan, up on their hill beneath the open sky; perhaps that explains why their warrior ancestors have spared them many times over.
It's not always easy to befriend a WindClan cat - they have become like the rabbits they chase; suspicious and quickly startled, fiercely protective of their Clanmates. But they know they are in less danger from allies than enemies, which is why they have a reputation for being a peaceful Clan, the least likely to invade another Clan's territory for food or power. Since Firestar came to the forest he watched them join with RiverClan, then ThunderClan, and even fall under the thrall of ShadowClan when that seemed the only way to protect themselves from a worse attack. Whatever their enemies say, this farsightedness is a strength, and it is a mistake to think WindClan cats are ever truly loyal to any but their own Clan.
They suffered most when the Twolegs made the Thunderpath in the forest wider. They watched huge yellow monsters turn their territory into rabbitless mud, then became prey themselves and Twolegs first tried to poison them, then rounded them up and imprisoned them. They showed great courage in not fleeing the forest long before the other Clans made up their minds to leave. For as long as there are cats in Clans living in a territory, WindClan will be among them, swift-pawed and watchful, clinging to the warrior code like moss to a rock.
WINDCLAN as seen by TALLSTAR
Welcome. I am Tallstar, and this is WindClan - a Clan that has known great suffering, but always survives. We are the fleet-footed warriors of the moor, the fastest Clan in the forest. We have struggled through terrible hardship, but we never give up. I know the other Clans sometimes see us as weak... but the truth is, they could not survive a moon on the open moors, chasing rabbits for their prey. We are the closest Clan to StarClan, spiritually and physically, and we always know our warrior ancestors are watching over us. This is what makes us strong. No matter what trials we must endure, WindClan will last forever.
Clan Stats
Clan Character: Fiercely loyal, tough, fast-running, and easily offended cats. They are nervous and quick to flee, due to the lack of cover on the open moor. They took pride in being the closest to the Moonstone in the old forest and of all the Clans, they have the deepest knowledge of Twolegs from seeing them on nearby farms.
Prey: Mainly rabbits.
Hunting Skills: Fast, lean and swift. Their short, smooth pelt of browns and greys blend in with the rocks and grasses.

Significance in Series
THE FIRST SERIES
In the first series, we see, in the first/second book, WindClan being chased away from the forest by Brokenstar. This implies that perhaps they are not as strong as they appear to be. We again get this feeling as WindClan call for help from ThunderClan in the battle against RiverClan and ShadowClan. But, they did survive a long time fighting two Clans at once - proving endurance. Firestar's friendship with Tallstar cannot be forgotten, of course - allegiance was almost immediately formed between the two Clans whilst both leaders were present.
THE NEW PROPHECY
As WindClan proves to be stronger and more able, the first-spiteful but later quite respectable Crowfeather - then Crowpaw - set off grumpily with the other chosen cats. Showing his affection for Feathertail, it seems that WindClan takes side-stage, next to ThunderClan, as the romance between the two was talk of the town. But, when the lovable Tallstar dies and leaves the Clan to Onestar, we see a sinister shadow upon the Clan beginning to form, turning Clans against them - this shadow comes in the name of Mudfur.
POWER OF THE THREE
Incredibly, WindClan sneaks into side-stage once more as love is in the air between two apprentices of ThunderClan and WindClan. And, who could forgot Leafpool and Crowfeather's little rendevous? As rumours begin to spread about Crowfeather and Leafpool secretly being Hollyleaf and Jaypaw's parents, suddenly the grey tom breaks off their love, practically ignoring Leafpool. So what does this prove? That as the guides say, WindClan is incredibly loyal to their Clan, and in the fear that his loyalty may melt away, Crowfeather stopped communications with Leafpool.
