SHADOWCLAN from the view of ROCK
Ah, those evil cats! Their hearts have been chilled by the wind that blows from the mountains, and every kit is schooled to share his Clanmates' hunger for battle, for more territory, for the warmth of blood running beneath their paws.
All right, I'm only repeating the tales told in nurseries of other Clans. ShadowClan warriors are proud and fight well. Their territory is the least rich in prey - no rivers running with fish, burrows full of rabbits, or leafy trees hiding songbirds and squirrels. They share their territory with lizards and frogs, and the rats that feed on Twoleg waste in the Carrionplace. Why wouldn't they seize every chance to add something else to their fresh-kill pile?
They are the night hunters, because ferns and brambles don't grow on their marshy ground. If there are no leaves and thorns to hide among, then darkness is their only cover for stalking prey. True, they use this skill to take their enemies by surprise as well, but does ThunderClan keep its hunting moves only for catching food? I think not.
No cat can deny that ShadowClan has been the cause of bloodshed more than any of the other Clans, in recent moons, at least. But the leader of the Clan is the cat who takes them into battle; you can't blame the warriors and appentices for being loyal and running behind. They are trained to be fierce, proud, independant, ready to fight to defend their borders and their meager supply of food. If other Clans fear them, perhaps it is because ShadowClan are an enemy no cat would wish to have.
Sometimes it even seems that StarClan share the forest Clans' fears: they let Raggedstar die at the claws of his own son, Brokentail, and refused to grant Nightstar his nine lives because Brokenstar was still alive, albeit a blind prisoner in the ThunderClan camp. Maybe old scores are not forgotten, even by our warrior ancestors, and ShadowClan will have to battle for a long time yet against the better-favoured Clans.
SHADOWCLAN from the view of BLACKSTAR
Greetings. I am Blackstar. You must be brave indeed, to approach the territory of ShadowClan. Few are welcome here, in our world of secrets and darkness. We are a Clan of cunning and cleverness, a Clan well suited to the shadows and the cold north wind. No other Clan can walk the paths of night like we do. Other Clans may be faster or stronger, but we are the most dangerous warriors: fierce, proud, and independant. We are ruthlessly willing to do what it takes to protect our great Clan. There won't be any softhearted alliances here! ShadowClan will always be the dark heart of the forest.
Clan Stats
Clan Character: Battle-hungry, agressive, ambitious, and greedy for territory. It is said that the cold wind that blows across the ShadowClan territory chills their hearts and makes them suspicious and untrusting.
Prey: Frogs, lizards, and snakes that live in ShadowClan's boggy, peaty territory. A secret food source of the old territory was a garbage dump on the far boundary, although they had to be careful not to eat infected rats or crow-food.
Hunting Skills: ShadowClan cats hunt by night better than other Clan cats and are skilled at skulking unseen through the undergrowth.

Significance in Series
THE FIRST SERIES
Of course, ShadowClan were extremely significant in the first series - who could forget Tigerstar's shattering impact on the forest? Or the trauma of Brokenstar? In the first few books, it seemed Tigerclaw was a suspicious, shady character - but, given the oppurtunity, he proved himself more than that, and the future ShadowClan leader really pushed ShadowClan's appearance in the first series. However, Tigerstar aside, Brokenstar was also a 'big hit'. The former Clan's leader was the cat who drove WindClan out after the first book. It seems like ShadowClan got the equal amount of popularity as ThunderClan did in this series - a lot!
THE NEW PROPHECY
The great journey, as always mentioned in the significance sections of Clan insights, features ShadowClan less than in the first series, but still it gets a quarter of the equally shared spotlight between the Clans. As Brambleclaw, famous son of Tigerstar (but that wouldn't be realised until later!) set off on the journey - with a slightly annoying apprentice named after a tree-climbing preypiece - he met up with Tawnypelt, his beloved sister, who fled to ShadowClan. And, on the Great Journey, Tawnypelt's skillful hunting was proved, and her magnificent hunting skills. Looks like it's a good training point to ShadowClan!
POWER OF THREE
ShadowClan's colder side was released again in the third book series, which was vitally proved to ThunderClan when Berrykit was found out in the woods trapped in a fox trap, being laughed at by ShadowClan warriors - including the deputy, Russetfur. They grow colder and colder, becoming a dark shadow in the spotlight. And in the fourth book, Eclipse, bombs go off as ShadowClan accept Sol, the mysterious bringer of the prophecy about the covering of the moon, as their guider. This continues further in Long Shadow - does this mean ShadowClan will have a weakness in the future, a point that the other Clans could pick up on in future ridges in peace...Sol?
